A strong connection to the garden.
This existing house was restricted by the size of the small and awkward kitchen area. We were asked to deliver a more habitable space that all the family could share together which had a strong connection to the garden.
Our solution was to create a large open plan living space consisting of the kitchen, dining area and a snug. As the location is very windy throughout the year the garden is unusable for most of the time. Therefore a lot of glass was used was used to create a year round connection between the living space and the garden, including a very large 3.2 x 2m picture window which effectively frames the garden. Two 1.6x4m triple glazed roof lanterns line up with the picture window to draw you towards it from where you enter the room through the kitchen.
