Neil and Gillian Kelly’s dreams of a spacious kitchen/dining space were brought to life with a striking cedar-clad extension, designed to expand their existing kitchen and incorporating clever storage ideas. The project was completed in only eight weeks - just in time for the birth of their son Laurence.
The aim of the design was to expand the existing kitchen and allow space for a downstairs toilet. We were asked to consider natural lighting and provide access to the rear garden. Several north facing Velux skylights were fitted along with bi-fold glazed doors for the garden access.
Our main priority was to provide a space where the clients could enjoy their kitchen space but also enjoy the view of their own garden, therefore a large seated corner window was incorporated into the design.
We chose to give the extension a Scandinavian feel using cedar cladding, with hidden fixtures to create a simplistic but contemporary feel assisted by the asymmetric roofline to compliment the pitched roofs within the surrounding area.
